To the Past we traverse:
Two Crystal leaves grace the lands full of monochrome skies. They dance alongside the wind in hopes to reach their destination. One ventures forth and stumbles upon a small girl who hungers. A poor soul who hath given up on the life she received. The other descended upon a confident soul who would one day become king.
Lifeless with all hope lost, a small child idled away her days in an abandoned lot. Her eyes were empty, her existence miniscule. The masses would pass by her every day, but not a moment would pass where they would question her being. A lost cause but the fear of death kept her clinging onto what little she had. All around were unfamiliar eyes. They were all self-righteous and judgmental in all the wrong ways. Because of this, she hated the world and all who inhabited within. There was not a single soul who could save her and all she requested for was an end to the prison she called life. Invisible shackles occupied her wrists, a ticking time bomb around her neck. She wanted release.
Seasons would come and go, but she remained forever static. The pages of her life were going to waste but she was okay with that; she wanted all her pages torn and burned. But alas, her desires of a cold passing weren’t coming as soon as she wanted it to. Her body was a special case; a warm glow within her depths ignored all human functions needed to survive. No sustenance, no sleep, just forever alive until the final seconds of her clock ticked by. To the people, this would be a dream, but for her, it was a curse. All she could do was idle away until the last moment.
The sun would set and rise, and another day came to waste. But, upon the next sunrise, something special occurred. A proud soul, a strong will – A multitude of colors among the monotone crowd made her appearance. “My name is Kotorian, and I will be king!”
What a funny thing to say. Someone so tiny and unbefitting proclaimed to be king. What could one such as Kotorian do to be deserving of such a grand title?! Yet, there was hope in her words. “What’s your name?” Kotorian would ask. The little girl didn’t want to answer, but she felt a strange sensation. For once in her life, she felt warm. “Nychi.” The little girl murmured before a sense of shock overtook her body. She placed her hands over her mouth as if to question her body’s disobedience. “Nychi, you will be my queen and you will live forever and protect my name!” And with that, Kotorian offered Nychi a hand. The hope of life shattered away the death of her being, the embers of her soul beginning to flicker. “A queen?” She whispered trying to reassure herself that that’s what Kotorian offered. Without question, Nychi accepted Kotorian's gesture and accepted her demands.
The pages she had torn away wouldn't return, but Nychi would cling to the pages that remain blank. Finally, she felt like she had a purpose. Her loyalty to Kotorian would be unwavering and unmatched. She would be a Queen to Kotorian, her rightful king. “I will forever protect you, my king.” She was quick in accepting a purpose in life; she felt Kotorian would rid her of the curse.
Seven days would pass and Nychi found herself following Kotorian through many different paths. She felt the need to question where it is they were going, but followed with no qualms. “We will siege the Abandoned Kingdom and make it our own!” A proud but impossible statement; but something about her words made it seem possible. It was as if Kotorian's confidence had the power to break past the impossible. You see, the abandoned Kingdom Kotorian spoke of was in a constant war. The ancient fortress was on the border of two grand nations who wanted to claim it for themselves. How Kotorian planned to intervene the war was beyond Nychi's understanding. How would she do it with just two people? Still, Nychi felt dedicated to Kotorian's presence and followed through.
The Abandoned Kingdom was beautiful. It was beyond ancient and nature had taken over the building. A giant tree grew out from the center plaza and all around was nothing but vines and flowers. It was a sight to behold. Nychi took a few moments to take it all in before the smell of blood and metal revealed a battle. Two hundred years of battle was constatn around the walls. No matter the strength of the raging battle, the fortress remained unscathed. “This will be our land. And we will take it, just the two of us. My command to you, my queen, is to stop this war.” And with her command, Nychi felt the inner glow brighten. The light flickers of the ember within her soul turned into a raging fire. Her veins were overrun with a pure energy; her eyes resonating with a powerful force . A crystalline like aura embraced her body and she felt the essence of the world.
Without a moment wasted, the soles of Nychi’s feet took off from the ground and high into the air. The glow of her energy radiated brighter than even the sun. Two hundred years of war came to a halt, all eyes, wounded or not, took upon the gaze of this pure being. Like a meteor, Nychi crashed in the center of the battlefield. Her fist came in contact with the earth and the world rumbled. All around her were people in shock. Everything was quiet, nothing but the passing breeze and the rumbling of the earth. With a pulse of energy, Nychi summoned colossal roots of a Grand Tree resting within the soil. A few hundred bodies catapulted into the sky and smacked away. Instinct took over and the veterans of war put aside their differences. They focused their attention on this new threat. There was no way one little girl would be able to take on a million; but Nychi could do it, as long as her king commanded. Her movements were elegant, every step calculated. Shots of varying weapons aimed for her, but not one even grazed her. She took to the offensive and one by one took out a few thousand soldiers within the hour. Her punches controlled by the environment that surrounded them. Each strike containing a force of nature. The soldiers would feel nothing but pure energy rushing through their blood. It was too much for them, they would all kneel with just one strike.
Within the next hour, Nychi had made her way past the mark of a million. The generals of war couldn’t believe what they were seeing. A single entity, a little girl had overrun the war. Just from her righteous glare, the generals of war surrendered, marking the end of the battle. It was as if the land had chosen Nychi as it's savior. Kotorian would shortly follow, walking past all the fallen and made her way to the fortress. The thick bark of the trees would open up and the barrier would falter as if accepting the presence of their new king. Kotorian made her entrance and took stand over the walls, looking down upon the million. “This is my Kingdom and I will be its rightful king!” With a tap of her foot, the Abandoned Kingdom came to life! The blood, sweat, and tears of the war all vanished and massive forest grew around the kingdom. The fortress accepted Kotorian, she who would be King. Her will commanded the lands and Nychi, the rest were of no use to The New-Age King. “Nychi, my Queen, come to my side.” Nychi came to Kotorian’s side and the two of them faced towards the defeated soldiers. “Begone! I have no use for any of you.”
Refusing to accept defeat, the men of war decided to take up arms once again and take over the Kingdom. It was a futile attempt. A pure energy enveloped Nychi once again, she defeated the Million. A ruthless general still refused to admit defeat; he took aim for Kotorian, a foolish move. All this time, Nychi had not taken a single life, but that was to change. To the stubborn fool she glared, “Blasphemer! How dare you raise a hand against your king?!” The authority of her voice rang in the general’s ear, the fear of God running throughout his body. With one fell swoop, Nychi leaped off the Kingdom walls and knocked the life and soul of the General away. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and the General found his life gone within the instant. “All who would dare question King Kotorian will suffer death.” And like that, the defeated made their exit.
Many years would come to pass and more and more the attempts to overtake the kingdom would grow. Each time, it was a wasted effort. Each time Nychi, the single soldier of Kotorian’s army, would come out victorious. There was only but one downfall to it all. As the years would pass by, Nychi would remain forever in her youth whereas Kotorian would grow in age. Nychi couldn’t understand but Kotorian didn’t’ seem to mind. She chose not to answer on why Nychi remained immortal and they continued with their lives. Every few years an army would come to their kingdom, but alas it was a fruitless attempt. The enemy would always go empty handed.
Time was but a curse to all and for once in Nychi’s life, she felt like she could have done much more. Much had changed since the times of her idle and sluggish state; she was now full of life and joy. Her only wish was for King Kotorian to live forever, alongside her. But the dark day she feared had arrived. King Kotorian sat in her throne, a smile on her face as time had come to take her away.
“You mustn’t go, my king. Who will I serve?!” Nychi begged. “Do not fret, my queen. You will rule these lands in my stead and I will forever watch over you.” King Kotorian coughed away her limited remaining breathes but kept her smile strong. “I have the power to rule all. A crystal leaf had graced my presence and gave me the power to overpower the wills of others, to my bidding. But alas, I chose to use my ability on nobody but you, my queen. I would pass by every day and see a little girl who had given up on her life. What better usage of my abilities than to give the joy of life to one who had given up on it? And I have no regrets over it! You have served me well. I asked you to be my queen and to live forever and protect my name, and you will continue to do so! For that is my command.” She coughed and hacked away her life but kept her proud demeanor. “My time is running short, my queen. But time is an illusion! I will look over you in spirit, as long as you keep my name in your heart, I too will remain immortal.” Tears streamed down Nychi’s face as King Kotorias came to pass. The crystal leaf that had graced her presence reacted and crystallized the body of the king. Nychi's eyes would fill with tears of sadness as she witnessed the king's crystallization. Now, a diamond perfectly depicting Kotorian would forever occupy the throne. “I will forever protect the Kingdom of Kotorias and we will build a nation unlike any other!”
One hundred years would pass and Nychi, graced by her King, would form Koto: a Nation unlike any other. The Nation of Possibilities
